SummitVentures is a Consumer Products consultancy focused on helping brands grow their business by building consumer and trading partner trust. In this context, “brands” are national, Local, regional, retail banners or retailer private brands.
SummitVentures has three primary focus areas:
Building consumer trust and loyalty via the SmartLabel® initiative and information transparency. Jim was a leader in building the initiative which began as an idea in 2015. Jim’s experience can help companies:
· Understand the strategic importance of information transparency and consumer trust
· Assess the various options for SmartLabel® execution including attribute development (how to capture, store and maintain data), Landing Page development, consumer engagement via websites and on-pack activation.
· Understand how to capture the value that comes from an engaged consumer seeking information about your brands, on your website and talking directly to you about your information.
· Stay in front of emerging technologies like 2D coding and the new GS1 Data Link standard to drive both consumer engagement and the supply chain
Businesses grow, and consumers are served more completely when solutions are developed that encompass the entire value chain. Retailers and manufacturers are both indispensable partners and fierce competitors. Threading this needle, be it supply chain collaboration, demand generation, trading terms or communication infrastructure requires complex problem-solving skills and consensus building. Jim’s experience crosses retailer joint business planning, business unit and geographic management around the world. Jim’s experience covers 1-to-1 trading relationships and broad industry engagement. Part of the B2B set is a partnership with the FMCG Institute, an organization designed for networking, best practice, peer support, skill building and expert functional leadership within the brand owner.

Ensuring consumers see accurate information about your brands no matter how they access that information. Recent analysis has demonstrated that information found on Brands SmartLabel® Landing Pages are very accurate.. but as that same information is passed along to partnered retailers or e-commerce sites, that accuracy drops off materially. Jim can help connect-the-dots and help build capabilities and partnerships to provide consumers with more accurate information, leveraging SmartLabel® and retailer systems.
Providing consumers with more information than could ever fit on a label

Building consensus and getting things done: Many of Jim’s roles have involved building a common approach among a very diverse set of leaders without compromising objectives, quality of execution or time. Within a single company, Jim has created global solutions working with heads of diverse geographies, multiple business units and global customer development leaders. Across industry, Jim has created global approaches to collaboration, was a foundational architect of ECR Asia and helped converge various trade associations into the Consumer Goods Forum. Within the United States, Jim led the development of a Consumer Information Transparency Initiative; SmartLabel®, a common approach to product code dating and a standardized format for product recall among other things.
